St. Thomas More Academy for Early Childhood Learning, Boynton Beach

St. Thomas More Academy provides a nurturing environment where children can grow both academically and spiritually. By educating the total child, independence, a love of learning, positive self-esteem and respect for others are instilled. With these building blocks firmly established, children can reach their potential as strong, independent, and loving children of God.

Notable Academics and Extracurriculars

Administrators and St. Thomas More Academy are highly qualified and certified to meet the highest standards in early childhood education for students two to five years old. Curriculum follows a schedule of themes that provides a structure for sensory experiences, language, math, letter recognition, art, socialization and motor skill development. Active hands-on and developmentally age appropriate learning is considered the most successful way for the children to construct knowledge.

The Pre-K/VPK program uses the Starfall curriculum; a reading and language arts curriculum that teaches students to observe, question, imitate, examine, explore, investigate and discover. St. Thomas More Academy also incorporates the Florida State VPK Curriculum into the school program, as well as the DiscipleLand Religion curriculum to provide a daily Catholic education for each child.

In addition, the school is proud of the VPK class of 2018 for having scored in the top 8% in VPK scores.

Individualized Attention Tailored to Each Student

St. Thomas More Academy believes that each student brings a special spirit and character to the classroom and, as such, should be recognized for the qualities that make them an individual. Anne Marie Fischer, director of the academy, implemented the ""Positive Phone Call" program. Each week, the lead teacher of the varying age groups calls the parents of a student in their class to tell them something good or positive about the student. This is usually a cute story they want to share about the child or an informal report on how the child is improving in a developmental area or classroom task.

Fostering of Spiritual Growth in Faculty and Students

Relationships between students and their families is highly valued at St. Thomas More Academy. To foster these relationships, the school hosts two grandparent Masses at which students are invited to sing hymns for their loved ones. In addition, the school typically joins St. Thomas More Parish in celebrating Priesthood Sunday by encouraging parents to attend a special Mass. Overall, the school attends Mass together once a week, and classes participate in daily religion courses.

Initiatives in Support of a Wholistic Education

St. Thomas More Academy actively provides volunteer and charity fundraising opportunities for students and families. In 2019, the school raised more than $900 for the St. Jude Children’s Hospital "Trike-A-Thon" and preschool students enjoyed riding their bikes around the school courtyard in honor of the sick children at the hospital. The school also support the parish in events such as “Fill a Backpack” for needy children and the Christmas Angel Tree.
