Bishop Barbarito joined diocesan school administrators at their April 29, 2026, meeting to thank Demes for her 34 years of service at Catholic schools. Demes, who has served as principal of St. Ann School since 2013, is retiring in June. The previous day, the faculty, staff and student body of St. Ann surprised her with an all-school assembly that recognized her zeal, commitment and devotion to her students. Faculty, alumni and student representatives shared their personal stories, and representatives of each class presented Demes with a plant as a sign of their gratitude and her love of gardening.
