Sacred Heart to welcome new leader at helm

Laurie Suarez Wilt as the new principal of Sacred Heart School in Lake Worth Beach.

LAKE WORTH BEACH  |  Bishop Gerald M. Barbarito, together with Gary Gelo, superintendent of schools, have announced the appointment of Laurie Suarez Wilt as the next principal of Sacred Heart School in Lake Worth Beach, which became effective April 28. 

Wilt brings a deep commitment to her Catholic faith and a lifelong dedication to the education and development of children. With more than 30 years of experience as a teacher and school administrator, she has devoted much of her career to literacy, passionately teaching reading to learners of all ages. 

Her professional journey includes numerous leadership and teaching roles within the School District of Palm Beach County, where she has consistently demonstrated a commitment to academic excellence, student well-being and faith-centered education. In addition to her full-time work, Wilt has served as an adjunct professor at Palm Beach Atlantic University, where she shared her expertise and mentored future educators. 

Wilt’s educational background includes a doctor of education in leadership, American College of Education; educational specialist in leadership, Nova Southeastern University; master’s degree in teaching English language learners, Nova Southeastern University; and bachelor’s in elementary education, Palm Beach Atlantic University. 

She holds Florida certification in multiple academic areas, including reading, English for speakers of other languages, elementary education, school principal and educational leadership.
