PALM BEACH GARDENS | Summer break is over, Catholic schools in the Diocese of Palm Beach are open for business and classrooms are bustling with activity. On some campuses, newly appointed administrators have taken their positions and are getting comfortable with their faculty, staff, students and families.
“Our Catholic schools are blessed to have excellent administrators across the diocese,” said Gary Gelo, diocesan superintendent of schools. “I am happy to announce several changes in administration for the 2024-25 school year. It will be a pleasure to work with this outstanding group of leaders.”
Elementary/middle schools that have new administrators include:
• Hope Rural in Indiantown, where former student Miguel Gaspar has become principal, working previously in the Martin County School District. Dominican Sister Elizabeth Dunn, who marked her 60th year of consecrated life this year, is school director.
• Sacred Heart in Lake Worth Beach, with Patricia Sheetz now as principal. She worked at Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia for 20 years.
• St. Joseph in Stuart has a new assistant principal, Kathy Wunder.
• St. Vincent Ferrer in Delray Beach has named Rod Huggins and Jacob Beck as assistants to the principal.
• St. Jude in Boca Raton named Eddie Flor as assistant to the principal.
All three Catholic high schools have experienced recent changes.
At John Carroll in Fort Pierce, where it was previously announced in the Florida Catholic that Corey Heroux would transition from principal to president, Michael Bryk has moved into the principal role. He had served at the school as dean of students, then assistant principal of student life since 2020. Replacing Bryk as assistant principal is Kirsten James.
As previously announced, Chuck Stembler has begun as president of Cardinal Newman in West Palm Beach, with Ed Curtin continuing as principal. John Clarke, former interim president, remains as associate superintendent for schools in the diocese.
Rounding out the list of high school changes, Sabrina Rezende is now assistant to the principal for student life for grades 9 and 10 at Saint John Paul II Academy in Boca Raton.
