St. Ann students celebrate teacher through special holiday

St. Ann Catholic School in West Palm Beach honored cafeteria director Hala Abdelahad on Feb. 24 through a special surprise celebration titled “Haladay.”

Susan Demes, school principal, shared, “Ms. Hala wears many hats. She heads all the meal preparations for our school, facilitates the after-care program, and much more. She is such an influence that parents often express that they want their children to attend St. Ann School because of her dedication.”

Molly Smith, a parent of four students at St. Ann School, said, “When I first toured the school, Ms. Hala was one of the reasons I chose to enroll my kids at St. Ann because of how kind and sweet she was the first day I met her. I knew my children would be okay because Ms. Hala was at the school.”

“Ms. Hala is one of the most kind and generous people I have ever met,” said Jen Barnim, an alumni parent. “She takes care of each child in our school, making sure they have healthy and delicious meals every day. She also works very late in aftercare, doing everything from providing snacks, helping with homework and organizing fun activities for the students. My own children attended St. Ann and they have very fond memories of Ms. Hala. My son, who is in college, still says she makes the best chicken parmesan. Ms. Hala is truly the heart of St. Ann School!”
