Lumen Christi Award Recipient - Deacon Sam Barbaro
Deacon Sam Barbaro is in his 16th year at Saint John Paul II Academy where he currently serves as Chair of the Theology Department. He also teaches Television Production and supervises the production of the school’s video morning announcements, which are broadcast live three times a week from the studio located in the media center.
Prior to joining the team at SJPIIA in the 2003-2004 school year, Deacon Sam served as the Director of Communications for the Diocese of Palm Beach from 1999-2003. He was ordained a permanent deacon in 1987 and has served at St. Luke and St. Joan of Arc parishes during his 32 years of ministry.
Deacon Sam’s steadfast commitment to Saint John Paul II Academy is an inspiration to faculty, students, and parents. His peaceful demeanor and desire to serve others is a model of what faith-filled leadership should look like in a Catholic school today.
