FORT PIERCE | John Carroll High School broke ground Aug. 16, 2024, for its new athletic field house that will be a hub for athletic excellence, providing students with a premier space for sports, events and activities.
The ceremony featured remarks from distinguished guests, including President Corey Heroux and Athletic Director and Head Football Coach Mickey Groody.
Donors recognized at the groundbreaking included the Pottorff and Drawdy families, whose initial promise and contribution of concrete helped kickstart the project; Hank and Jenny Fee, Dr. Denise Pieczynski and Dr. Jeff Brown, Sheryll and Greg Thogerson, and John and Lee Moore, whose generous contributions have been instrumental in making the project a reality; Roger Priest and Darren Guettler, recognized for their unwavering support, expert guidance and commitment to the school’s vision; and others whose philanthropic efforts have benefited the John Carroll community.
Heroux expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support, saying, “This athletic field house represents a significant milestone for our school. It is a testament to the dedication and generosity of our friends, alumni and families. We are excited to see the positive impact it will have on our students and school community.”
Principal Michael Bryk expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “The new athletic field house is a dream come true for John Carroll High School. It will enhance our athletic programs and provide a versatile space for our students. We are deeply grateful to everyone who has supported this project.”
Groody added, “We are excited to break ground on our new athletic field house, a state-of-the-art facility that will provide our athletes with the resources they need to excel both on and off the field. This project represents our commitment to fostering a supportive and dynamic environment for our student-athletes, and we are eager to see its impact. Thank you to everyone who has supported this initiative and helped realize this vision.”
The new field house will feature a weight room, practice turf, a “Hall of Champions” entryway, bathrooms, concessions and a ticketing window. The facilities will enhance the school’s athletic programs and provide space for various events and activities.
